Neil D. Gilliland
Goodland, Kansas resident Neil D. Gilliland, 62, died Tuesday, June 23, 1998, at Citizens Medical Center, Colby, Kan. Gilliland was born May 26, 1936, at St. Francis, Kan., the son of Viola E. (Gutzman) and Lale R. Gilliland. In 1954, he graduated from Bird City High School. He married Irene Unruh on November 27, 1958, in Newton. The Gillilands farmed in the Bird City area until 1987, when they moved to Marysville where Neil was employed as a district sales manager for Landoll Corporation. In 1993, Neil joined Golden Plains Ag Tech of Colby as a regional sales representative and they made their home in Goodland. Preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving family members include his wife Irene Gilliland of the home in Goodland; two daughters Kim Nation of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Karla Thompson and her husband Chris of Goodland; one son Clayton Gilliland and his wife Shara of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren Derek Nation of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Sophia Thompson of Goodland; two sisters Luella Resco of Clyde; and Jeannie Watson of Odessa, Missouri, and one brother Albert Gilliland of Bird City. The funeral service will be Friday, June 26, 1998, at 10 a.m. MT, at the Goodland Elks Lodge. Burial will follow in the Goodland Cemetery. Friends may share their respects at Koons Chapel, Goodland, on Thursday, from 8 a.m. MT until 8 p.m. MT. The family will receive friends at Koons Chapel on Thursday, from 7 p.m. MT until 8 p.m. MT.
